Nate: Personally, I think There is No Enemy is the best thing they’ve done since Keep It Like a Secret. This is my favorite track from it.

Ryan Adams - “Sweet Illusions”
Nate: Everything about this song is fantastic. I’ve only really gotten into him in the last year or so, but he’s really written a lot of great songs.

Land of Talk - “Some are Lakes”.
Nate: Just went to see them play in November; it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a really long time.

Rob: This is the best noisy shoegaze song I’ve heard this year. It’s got great feedback guitar sounds with airy, melodic vocals. Just the kind of thing I love.

Blonde Redhead - “Symphony of Treble”.
Rob: I love the biting, distorted guitar part in this song and how it works with the guitar/bass progression. Great use of stereo separation, especially at the end of the chorus where the guitar/bass progression and the distorted guitar slowly switch sides.

Misha: At first I thought I may have over-listened this track in University, but turns out that is impossible! Two of my favourite records: Carboot Soul and Smokers Delight.

Misha: Though I am much more fond of their 2005 album ‘The Loon’, this song is among my favourites. Off their most recent album ‘Walk it Off’, I feel like the bass line just wins it for them.

Alas, I had the flu…

Ringo Deathstarr - “In Love”.
Patrick: A lot has been made of this so-called ’shoegaze revival.’ But Ringo Deathstarr are the only band that do it for me. They’re incredibly loud, yet they’ve got a wonderful sense of melody. I’ve seen these guys (and gal) more times than I can count and they just keep getting better. I think they’ve got a wonderful future ahead…
Patrick: Se han hecho muchas cosas de este “shoegaze revival”. Pero Ringo Deathstarr es la única banda que lo logra para mí.
